The Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY) announces that long-time member Dave Engel passed away on May 25. He was 71.

Born in North Carolina in 1944, he was a former board member of SAAGNY and a former volunteer for both SAAGNY and PPAI. “Dave was a loyal and vocal proponent of SAAGNY, the SAAGNY Foundation and the industry,” says Jonathan Riegel, executive director of SAAGNY and the SAAGNY Foundation, “and he was a true friend to so many of his colleagues. We offer our prayers and condolences to Dave’s wife and family during this difficult time.”

Engel is survived by his wife Sharon (Trosch) Engel; son Jonathan (Jessica) and daughter Joanna (Dana Finer); brother Rafael Engel; and granddaughter Miriam Engel. Funeral services will be held at Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven, CT 06511 on Friday, May 27 at 10 a.m., preceded by visiting hour at 9 a.m., with interment to follow at the Beth Sholom Cemetery, 25 Alling St., Hamden, CT.
