Badger Sportswear Receives Grant For $3.7 Million Renovation
The company plans to create 82 jobs as a result of the project.
Badger Sportswear (asi/37876) is planning a major renovation project.
The city of Statesville, North Carolina, was recently awarded a $300,000 grant that will support the renovation of a 343,184-square-foot building occupied by the supplier, The News Herald reported.
The company plans to create 82 jobs and invest $3,693,802 in the project, which will consolidate its operations from one other state into the Statesville facility, according to Russ Neale, vice president of marketing at Badger Sportswear.
“We are trying to create a state-of-the-art distribution and decoration facility to create quality, speed and low prices for customers,” Neale told Counselor. “Most of the consolidation is occurring from our screen printing in Rochester, New York. We are still maintaining facilities in Rochester, San Diego and Mexico.”
As of this time, Neale says, there is no specific end date for the renovation project.
Earlier this year, Badger Sportswear cut ties with a Chinese apparel manufacturer that an Associated Press investigation alleged was pulling workers from an internment camp that detained primarily Muslim ethnic minorities in northwestern China.
