Maple Plain, MN-based Winning Edge Inc. (asi/97472) has entered into an agreement to acquire Mound, MN-based Ovation Framing/Global Miniatures. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Effective immediately, Winning Edge is the direct contact for all orders, quotes, customer service, manufacturing, shipping and all other services formerly offered by Ovation Framing/Global Miniatures.

Specialty framing supplier Ovation Framing was founded in 1996 by Molly and Sean Wheatley. Molly’s mother, Jackie Drury, took over the company in the early 2010s, and has been transitioning out over the past year, according to the company website.

Founded in 1985 by Dick and Julie Sorensen, Winning Edge was initially known as Fifth Avenue Frame, specializing in custom-framed art prints. After serving a client in need of a corporate award program, the company rebranded, expanding its focus and product line to include custom awards.

In 2000, the Sorensens created an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and the employees became shareholders. Dick passed away in 2000, and Julie remains an active board member. Bart Cuderman is the company’s president and CEO.
