Former Timberland, The North Face Executive Joins BDA as Chief Operating Officer

Matt Ferrari’s history of aligning supply chain strategy to business objectives will help fuel growth at the Top 40 distributor, company leaders said.

Matt Ferrari has experience heading up supply chain efforts for household name brands like The North Face and Timberland.

Now, the veteran operations leader is bringing that expertise to Top 40 distributor BDA (asi/137616) as the Woodinville, WA-based company’s new chief operating officer. As COO, Ferrari will lead BDA’s global operations, fulfillment centers, supplier partners and sales support.

“Matt is completely dialed in to the best practices of managing a worldwide network,” said BDA CEO/co-founder Jay Deutsch, a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of promo’s most influential people. “As we accelerate efforts to globalize our supply chain and grow our international footprint, Matt’s experience will be instrumental in expanding our client offerings.”

Ferrari worked the last 10 years at global apparel/footwear company VF Corporation, where he was most recently vice president of global supply chain for The North Face brand. Among other roles at VF, Ferrari previously held the position of vice president of global supply chain of the Timberland brand.

Before his time at VF, Ferrari spent more than eight years with multinational pharmaceutical/medical technologies corporation Johnson & Johnson. There he held operational roles that included senior manager of materials and planning.

Ferrari said he’s excited to draw on his experience of aligning supply chain strategy to business objectives to help BDA expand its client roster domestically and abroad, where the company’s presence in Europe in particular has been growing, including this year’s acquisition of ipm | gruppe – a leading distributor in Germany’s promotional products sector.

“I was drawn to BDA by the company’s culture of continuous innovation, the massive portfolio of iconic brands they are entrusted with, and their forward-looking approach on behalf of their clients and team,” said Ferrari. “I’ve been fortunate to work with a variety of category-leading brands; that experience has instilled in me the ability to maximize strategic partnerships and effectively manage a global supply chain. I look forward to leveraging that expertise to further position BDA for ongoing success.”

Indeed, Deutsch believes many more big wins are in the cards with Ferrari as COO. “With Matt on board,” Deutsch said, “BDA will continue to lead the industry with top-tier customer value creation and exceptional execution.”

BDA has been stocking up on leadership talent of late. The distributor named one of promo’s most well-known sales professionals, Jill Albers, senior director of business development in August. In September, BDA hired former Microsoft executive Anouk Pape as vice president of global marketing and creative services.

BDA ranks sixth on Counselor’s most recent Top 40 distributor list, as determined by reported 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $422.2 million. The company works with a bevy of major clients, including Major League Baseball, Mercedes Benz, NBC, The Home Depot, and Johnson & Johnson. A global firm with almost 40 years of experience, BDA operates more than 50 locations in North America and eight international offices.
