S&S Activewear Launching New Facility in Georgia

Top 40 supplier S&S Activewear (asi/84358) plans to open a new 505,000-square foot warehouse in the greater Atlanta area by the second quarter of 2018, the company announced last week. The new facility will offer one-day ship times to the Southeastern U.S., including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. Meanwhile, the warehouse’s two-day shipping reach will extend to the rest of S&S’s distribution network in the Midwest and Eastern U.S.

“The Atlanta facility marks critical progress in S&S’s nationwide expansion,” Frank Myers, COO of S&S Activewear, said in a statement. “The strategic location and sophistication of the new facility will allow us to provide our industry’s best service and product to our customers in the Southeast.”

To be located at the Midland Logistic Center in McDonough, Henry County, GA, the warehouse will include energy-saving technology, such as solar panels and efficiency lighting, S&S noted. With the forthcoming facility and other current locations in Illinois, Kansas, New Jersey, California and Texas, S&S will be operating within more than 3 million square feet nationwide.

The expansive national presence is a component of the supplier’s impetus to provide excellent customer service through fast, highly responsive shipping and fulfillment. “By extending our geographic reach, we are able to meet the growing demand of our customers and continue to propel our business,” says Myers.

Back in May, S&S announced it was opening a 493,000-square foot distribution center in Fort Worth, TX. Among other highlights, the state-of-the-art facility is geared toward providing expanded one-day coverage into the greater part of Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin.

With reported 2016 North American promotional product revenue of $275 million, S&S ranked sixth on Counselor’s 2017 list of the largest suppliers in the advertising specialty industry.
