Hit Recalls Ceramic Mugs Due to Burn, Laceration Risk

Top 40 supplier Hit Promotional Products (asi/61125), in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued an official recall for its 14-ounce Coastline Ceramic Mugs (8149). The mugs can crack or break when exposed to hot liquid, posing a laceration and burn hazard.

These Coastline Ceramic Mugs (8149) from Hit Promotional Products are being recalled due to burn and laceration risks.

The mugs come in six colors with a gray bottom and were used as giveaways at meetings and events across the U.S. between October 2018 and September 2019. Hit Promotional Products, based in Largo, FL, has received 10 reports so far of the mugs breaking, but no injuries have been reported. Approximately 34,000 pieces are under recall.

"This was a new item introduced in October 2018," Nathan Cotter, vice president of compliance for Hit, told ASI. "Since then, 37 orders totaling 3,321 pieces were produced, and the remainder of the total listed on the recall remain in Hit’s possession and will be destroyed. Hit has a process for investigating any claim of defective product that could result in a hazard to the consumer. Complaints about this product were investigated, and as a result, Hit discontinued sales and initiated a product recall on October 29."

Consumers are asked to stop using the recalled mugs immediately and contact Hit for a free replacement.

Hit is available at (800) 237-6305 x2691 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or at lthibado@hitpromo.net. The supplier's official recall notice is here.
