Storm Creek Releases 2024 Catalog of Sustainable Apparel
The Eagan, MN-based supplier says it will have upcycled upwards of 45 million plastic bottles by the end of next year.
Eagan, MN-based supplier Storm Creek (asi/89879) has launched its 2024 catalog, featuring all eco-conscious products. By the end of next year, the company says, it will have upcycled upwards of 45 million plastic bottles into sustainable apparel.
Every style in the catalog is made with upcycled materials, sustainable practices, water conservation and no harmful chemicals, according to Storm Creek.
“We are excited to introduce our fall arrivals and 2024 collection to the promotional products industry,” said Doug Jackson, president and founder of Storm Creek. “We believe that our new designs and eco-conscious fabrics will inspire distributors to sell sustainably and educate their customers on the impact they can have. There is no need to sacrifice style for sustainability or sustainability for price.”
Indeed, Storm Creek notes, the supplier is holding prices steady heading into 2024, while introducing more sustainable fabrics to its lineup.
Another highlight of the 2024 Everyday Eco catalog, Storm Creek says, is the removal of all per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) coatings from its outerwear and performance wear. Known as “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down in the environment, PFAS has been used in a variety of products, from nonstick cookware to grease-resistant paper, over the decades.
In apparel, manufacturers have used PFAS to create durable water repellent (DWR) coatings on fabrics. PFAS can contaminate water sources and build up in fish and wildlife, and research has linked exposure to certain PFAS with various cancers and other health problems, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. California and New York have both enacted bans on PFAS in apparel.
In a blog post earlier this year, Storm Creek said that until March 2023, its products contained C6, a PFAS chemical, in its water-repellent fabrics. “We’ve been going through a vigorous testing process to convert our fabrics to a technology that doesn’t include PFAS,” the supplier noted in the post.
Products in the 2024 catalog include the Artisan Shirt Jacket (3070), which is has a shell made from 100% recycled polyester, a lining made from 100% recycled polyester and insulation made of 35% recycled polyester. Each garment uses 21 plastic bottles’ worth of recycled polyester.
The Women’s Summit Jacket (4365) is made of 100% recycled polyester, an equivalent of 37 recycled plastic bottles.
A WBENC-certified woman-owned business, Storm Creek is a member of 1% for the Planet, with a goal of donating $5 million to charity by 2030. CEO Teresa Fudenberg was named one of the 2023 Bess Cohn Humanitarians of the Year.
