Charley Johnson, the one-time executive vice president at SnugZ USA (asi/88060), is coming back to the promo products industry at a different firm. Johnson has been named the new senior vice president of sales and marketing at Utah-based HandStands (asi/59525). Johnson told Counselor he “met with many companies over the past month,” but decided HandStands was the best fit for him.

“The boys at HandStands have grown a very large company in the past, and they want to do it again with a willingness to do what is needed to make this happen,” Johnson said. “The conviction in their words, and more importantly, their actions, is what sold me.”

Johnson left SnugZ in 2011 to move into the nonprofit sector, becoming president of the Pay It Forward Foundation. “Charley is an outstanding leader with deep industry insight and experience,” said Rodd Steuart, CEO and president at HandStands. “We are pleased that he has joined the team. It is an honor to work with the best of the best.”

Johnson said he returned to the industry because “it’s what I know, and there are things from my first go-around that I still need to learn and go through for me to evolve.” Johnson said his goal at HandStands is “to help make the people I work with better.”
