Competitive Edge Promotes Dawn Janis to VP of Sales
Janis is an industry veteran who joined the woman-owned distributorship a year ago.
A woman-owned distributorship that’s perennially on Counselor’s Best Places to Work List has a new vice president of sales.
Michigan-based Competitive Edge (asi/166085) has named promo products industry veteran Dawn Janis to the important leadership position. Janis joined the company in the summer of 2022 as a market vice president and has made quite an impact in that short time.
“Dawn’s extensive experience, leadership within the industry and profound understanding of promotional products make her the perfect choice to steer our sales endeavors,” said Mary Jo Tomasini, CEO of Competitive Edge. “Dawn's guidance of our sales team underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional products and services to all our valued customers.”
Janis brings what Competitive Edge said is 23 years of industry sales and management experience to the vice president of sales position.
Her resume includes time at Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900), where she was a brand specialist and later regional vice president of the Midwest.
Janis, who holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Illinois State University, has been active in the promo industry, having served as president of the PPAChicago association and as a participant on the Michigan Promotional Professionals Association (MiPPA) Leadership Conference Committee. She was also previously Education Chair for PPAChicago.
“Dawn’s deep-rooted connections within the industry make her an invaluable asset to Competitive Edge, and her presence is poised to fortify the company's reputation and relationships with our diverse customers,” the company said in a statement.
Founded in 1993, Competitive Edge has appeared on Counselor’s Best Places to Work in the promotional products industry list nine times. The firm’s other accolades include receiving the “Outstanding Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) of the Year” award from the Michigan Women's Business Council, as well as the “Best Community Leadership Award” and “Best Year-Round Partnership Award” from the United Way of SW Michigan.
