First Impressions of the Promo Industry
ASI Media’s two interns discuss what they’ve learned about promotional products this summer and how their newfound knowledge will serve them in the future.
Summer internships are a vital part of the college experience – and a great way to introduce the next generation into the world of promotional products. ASI Media was lucky enough to have two departmental interns this summer – Roderick Diamond II and Mark Lucivero – who have been diligently learning the ropes and writing about industry trends for the last few weeks.
In this episode of Promo Insiders, Theresa Hegel, ASI Media’s executive editor of digital content, chats with Roderick and Mark about the lasting impression that promo makes and what surprised them about their time with ASI. Because all three are working remotely and hail from different states – Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia – they also shared some of their favorite regional foods and discussed such crucial topics as whether pineapples, white clams or crabmeat belong on top of a pizza and if you really can deep-fry anything.

When it comes to products, both interns have scoped their favorite finds. For Roderick, it was cooling towels – especially during the record-breaking heat of summer. Mark, on the other hand, was impressed with the incredible diversity of the drinkware category. Both say they’ve been surprised and impressed by just how many different product categories are available in the promo industry, and how many suppliers and distributors there are across the country.
“They all have a unique story to tell,” Mark adds.
