Houston Promo Companies Reopen After Flooding
A state of disaster has been declared, as historic flooding hit nine counties in and around the Houston area on Monday.
The flooding has killed at least seven people, destroyed 1,000 homes and caused more than $5 billion in damage, CNN reported. About 123,000 homes lost power, according to CenterPoint Energy, the utility company that serves most of the Houston area.
Emergency crews have rescued more than 1,200 residents, providing shuttle service to evacuees staying in shelters. The National Weather Service reported that Cypress Creek reached a near-record 127.5 feet due to an estimated 240 billion gallons of rain falling on the Houston area.
Counselor contacted industry companies in the area to see how they were faring during and after the floods. Here’s what we found as of Tuesday afternoon. U.S. Manufacturing Group (asi/92433), Tiger Hill Houston Inc. (asi/91223), Spectrum Uniforms (asi/88680), Kati Sportcap (asi/64140) and Cooler Graphics (80345) all closed on Monday but have since reopened.
Renee Maxey of American Zebra Line (asi/35745) reported water damage in the breakfast room, but not in the offices. Maxey added that the parking lot and Frontage Street were impassable for several hours.
Steven Green, accounts manager of Flags Made (asi/54515), said the company did not close, but that only a skeleton crew was on hand. Since Monday morning, the company has been experiencing sporadic phone system issues and power outages.
“It’s been difficult, but we are getting through it,” Green said.
