Hanes Donates Underwear for Earth Day Promotion
In honor of Earth Day this year, Hanes, parent company of Hanes Branded Printwear (asi/59528), has partnered with Give Back Box to encourage consumers to reduce waste, by giving their unwanted clothing to those in need.
Give Back Box is an online service that coordinates the shipping of gently used outerwear and shoes, along with other household items, to local charities across the U.S. The service encourages consumers to fill boxes from online purchases – or any shippable box – with unwanted items, print a prepaid label on the Give Back Box site and send the package to those in need.
For the next six months, Hanes will donate a package of underwear to The Salvation Army for every box its consumers ship via Give Back Box, through www.hanes.com/givebackbox. Participating customers also receive a 20% online discount on Hanes apparel. Through the “Give Back for Good” campaign, Hanes has pledged to donate up to 1,000 packages of underwear.
The initiative is part of HanesBrands culture of environmental and social responsibility, according to Sidney Falken, chief branding officer. “We believe in being good stewards of the environment we share and the communities in which we operate. This partnership with Give Back Box helps us to do both while promoting the importance of recycling and taking care of those who need it most.”
In other news, HanesBrands has earned its eighth consecutive U.S. EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year Award for sustained excellence in energy conservation, carbon emissions reduction and environmental sustainability. The company’s 2016 accomplishments includes implementing more than 220 projects that yielded nearly $2 million in energy savings. “We have made significant progress in reducing our environmental footprint,” said Javier Chacon, chief global manufacturing operations officer for Hanes.
