Shop Sells Inverted Jeans Inspired by Stranger Things

While the super-popular Netflix series Stranger Things has inspired plenty of 80s-inspired branded merch, one retailer is taking it to a different level.

New York City-based CIE Denim, a vintage clothing store that repurposes denim pieces, is now offering a line of Stranger Things shorts and pants designed to be worn, well, upside down. For example, the “Nancy” and “El” pairs of shorts, named after series characters Nancy Wheeler and Eleven respectively, are high-waisted with a raw hemline and hidden zipper, while the bottoms have a waistband, belt loops and pockets. They’re currently listed for a cool $385.

Also available are the “El” shorts, and, going for almost $500 each, pairs of pants called “Will,” “Mike” and “Lucas” after characters from the show. CIE Denim advertises the pieces as one-of-a-kind and made out of hand-selected vintage denim.

Of course, the announcement caused a stir on the Twitter-verse as another example of a strange yet intriguing fashion trend.

It's the latest in a slew of unique looks from the fashion world; Balenciaga recently showcased a $1,290 “T-shirt Shirt” and weird denim in particular has, in the past year, included Romphims, mom jeans with clear knee windows and diaper-looking pants with detachable legs. CIE Denim’s collection is just one of many Stranger Things-inspired merch items, such as vintage holiday sweaters, duffel bags, arcade-style pixel tees and more.
