GeigerBTC Opens Logistics Hub in the Netherlands
The Geiger subsidiary continues to support its expanding international clientele.
GeigerBTC, Top 40 distributor Geiger’s (asi/202900) division in the United Kingdom, has opened a new logistics office in Rotterdam, Netherlands to support its expanding international customer base. The centrally located facility will be a hub for customs clearances and product deliveries across Europe and the Middle East.
“Having our own distribution center and office in Rotterdam enables us to further improve services to our many clients with operations in EMEA,” said Frank Murphy, managing director of GeigerBTC, in a statement. “This also protects us and our clients from any potential consequences of Brexit.”
The Rotterdam office will also provide kitting, fulfillment and distribution center services to customers, and will streamline the value-added tax (VAT) calculation process for clients in the European Union.
“Clients are demanding global services for their merchandising programs, with local marketing support,” said Jo-an Lantz, president and CEO of Geiger, in a statement. “The ability to provide a global supply chain is critical and the new Rotterdam location supports our international strategy.”
Lewiston, ME-based Geiger bought UK-based BTC Group in March 2018 and rebranded it as GeigerBTC. Since then, Geiger has made a number of domestic and international acquisitions, including Response Marketing in York, England, and EMC Advertising Gifts in London.
Earlier this year, Lantz had mentioned the possibility of opening a distribution hub in continental Europe to help GeigerBTC be ready for a post-Brexit economic landscape, which may significantly alter how goods can be shipped between EU and non-EU nations.
With reported 2018 promotional product revenue of $210 million, Geiger ranks 10th on Counselor’s latest list of the largest distributors in the industry.
