Expert: Instagram Could Offer A ‘Stop-Motion’ Tool For Making Video Content

A savvy reverse engineering sleuth has discovered that Instagram is working on a feature that could make it much easier for marketers to create videos for their Instagram content.

According to Jane Manchun Wong, Instagram is creating a new “Stop-Motion” camera option for Instagram Stories. The under-development feature would offer marketers – and others – an efficient, relatively simple way to make video updates without having to actually record video, according to the research.

Wong’s digital detective work indicates that the Stop-Motion feature would effectively ghost frames you’re capturing with the prior one – a functionality aimed at making sure movement and the like are accurate. The video below gives an idea.

Promotional products suppliers and distributors could potentially use the feature to create quick, shareable product spotlight clips, among other content. The potential ease-of-use could be a real boon for stretched marketing departments and smaller branded merchandise firms that don’t have the time and resources to dedicate to full video production. When it comes to social media, video is the content that performs best.

As of this writing, Instagram is remaining mum on the Stop-Motion feature. However, keep your eyes peeled: It could soon be a new tool for your marketing shed.
