Epson Announces DTG and DTF Hybrid Garment Printer

The hybrid SureColor F2270 from Epson will be available in August.

Epson has a new solution for garment decorators and promotional products distributors: the hybrid SureColor F2270, which does both direct-to-garment and direct-to-film printing. The printer goes beyond traditional garment printing and heat transfer to enable decoration of a variety of materials, including uniquely shaped items.

“The SureColor F2270 was purpose-built with an eye toward what’s happening in the industry. Specifically, we wanted to address the needs of print shops transitioning from mass production to producing what’s needed,” said Tim Check, senior product manager for professional imaging at Epson America. “With its ability to produce high-quality output, with great reliability and consistency, print shops can now create premium-quality products designed to last years. This also results in less waste from the print process to the garment wearability.”

The hybrid printer features a new PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead with nozzle verification technology and UltraChrome DG2 ink that delivers vibrant colors and detail up to 20% faster on dark garments, compared to the previous-generation printer. Its cartridge-free bulk ink pack system helps to reduce ink-replacement frequency. The printer also uses multiple sensors to automatically measure and adjust to garment thickness without user intervention to help increase productivity and ensure high-quality output.

The SureColor F2270, which will be available in August through authorized resellers, has a number of other features designed to bring efficiency and versatility to distributors, decorators and e-commerce fulfilment, including dedicated cleaning-solution channels and a fabric head wiper system to reduce downtime; a flat-top work surface; a large 4.3-inch touchscreen interface with ergonomically placed control buttons; easy-to-use, quick-load platens to help reduce loading time; intuitive software that features improved processing time; and the Epson Cloud Solution PORT, which provides live production monitoring of printer fleet status, including production rates and printer use.

“Ultimately, prints done right the first time save time, money and physical resources, and that’s the goal with the new SureColor F2270,” Check said.

Roland DGA Adds Two New Products

Frosted etched glass vinyl from Roland DGA simulates the appearance of actual etched glass and can be employed as a decorative privacy film, among other uses.

Roland DGA, a provider of wide-format inkjet printers, vinyl cutters and other digital imaging technology, has added two products to its media family: Frosted Etched Glass Vinyl and WallFlair Paste Paper.

Frosted Etched Glass Vinyl is a 3-mil, polymeric vinyl printable media with permanent adhesive that simulates the appearance of actual etched glass. It’s ideal for use (either printed or unprinted) as a decorative privacy film to spruce up interior or exterior décor. The material, which comes with an air-release liner for easy application, can be used to decorate a variety of clear, glass, mirror and stainless-steel surfaces. The vinyl is compatible with Roland’s eco-solvent, resin or UV inks and Roland brand cutters.

WallFlair Paste Paper is a sustainable15-mil uncoated fibrous nonwoven product designed specifically for wall applications. It’s 100% PVC-free, contains no heavy metals, and is both ASTM E-84 Class A (Fire) certified and REACH-compliant. Compatible with Roland’s UV and resin inks, it boasts excellent printability, high opacity and dimensional stability. It features a textile-like look and feel that makes it perfect for enhancing interior walls. The paper is easy to apply with standard wallpaper paste and removes cleanly in one piece; plus, it’s simple to clean with a soft, damp cloth.

“We’re excited about the addition of these unique offerings to our continuously growing media lineup,” said Lily Hunter, senior product manager for Roland DGA.
