And the Best Golf Club Logo Belongs to…?
The Masters is still a month away, but if you’re a savvy pro in the promotional products industry, the business end of golf season has been underway for a while now, what with fulfilling clients logoed merch needs for spring and summer events on the greens.
With golf and logos for the links top-of-mind, we thought you might find it interesting that PGA Tour Pro Zac Blair, along with Fried Egg Golf, conducted a poll to determine which golf club has the best logo.
The Winner? Merion Golf Club – the suburban Philadelphia course that hosted the 2013 U.S. Open.
Check out the logo below. What do you think?
As GolfDigest.com reports, “most serious golfers know Merion's iconic wicker-basket flagsticks, showcased in its logo, serve as pins at the East Course… The USGA swapped out the wicker baskets for conventional flagsticks in 1950, but has known better not to mess with Merion's trademark since.”
To win the “Logo Madness” contest, as it was dubbed, Merion had to beat out other clubs from around the nation in a bracket-style competition determined by votes. In the final, Merion bested New York’s Winged Foot Golf Club. The other two semi-finalists were Pasatiempo Golf Club of Santa Cruz, CA, and Sleepy Hollow Golf Club of Briarcliff, NY.
Give a look at the semi-finalists’ logos below. Which is your favorite?
