*NSYNC to Release ’90s-Inspired Branded Merch

Millennials, rejoice! Iconic ’90s boy band *NSYNC will be teaming up with global branding and licensing agency Epic Rights to release a new line of branded merch next year. The special items will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their first album and the U.S. debut of their hit track “I Want You Back.”

“The band is thrilled to create an exciting new line of merch with Epic Rights in celebration of our 20th anniversary,” founding member Lance Bass said in a statement.

The pop group was a worldwide phenomenon, selling more than 70 million records and performing at more than 350 sold-out concerts. The group’s 2000 No Strings Attached album, with mega hits like “Bye, Bye, Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me,” sold nearly 2.5 million records in its first week of release and the accompanying tour sold out in just five days.

While *NSYNC and Epic Rights have not yet disclosed where exactly the products will be sold, they have released plans to create ’90s-inspired apparel and accessories, tech items, home décor, games, collectible figures, slot machines and more. No word yet if they’ll be re-releasing *NSYNC cassette tapes.

“With a ’90s pop culture revival underway, we anticipate enormous demand for products that remind us all that *NSYNC was the band of the decade, influencing the musical style and taste of a generation, and that legacy lives on today,” said Lisa Streff, executive vice president of global licensing for Epic Rights, in a statement.

Epic Rights told news site Bustle that a few items will be available in time for the holidays, and apparel and accessories will pop up at retailers in the spring. Next fall, the line will extend into outerwear, loungewear, track suits, footwear, collectible figures, tech accessories and stationery.

Pop culture from the ’90s is certainly having a moment. There’s been recent talk of a full-blown Spice Girls reunion in 2018, complete with an album and special projects, and NickSplat, a block of special programming on Nickelodeon that features shows from the late ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s, now airs for the entire overnight timeslot due to popular demand. Millennials can also enjoy ’90s Bar Crawls in cities across the country, complete with catchy pop tunes, special mixed drinks and crazy costumes.
