Epson Now Shipping Hybrid DTG Printer

Custom apparel shop Paisley Jo Designs has been using Epson’s SureColor F2270 printer to great effect.

Epson’s new hybrid SureColor F2270 printer is now available to ship, according to the company. Purpose-built for both direct-to-garment (DTG) and digital-transfer film printing, the equipment combines high image quality, easy operation, good value and an intuitive design, Epson says.

Digital-transfer film printing capability allows decorators to go beyond traditional garment printing and transfer to a wider variety of materials, including uniquely shaped items such as shoes, hats and mugs.

Kim Johnson, owner of Paisley Jo Designs in Glendale, AZ, says she’s had a lot of success using the SureColor F2270 for her custom apparel business. “We are able to offer vibrant, full-color graphics with the soft feel that customers want,” Johnson said. “The hybrid features allow us to easily move from printing digital film transfers to shirts without making any adjustments on the printer, which helps with production times.”

Features include high-performance printhead technology that automatically detects and adjusts performance, a cartridge-free bulk ink pack system, automatic garment-thickness adjustment and robust garment-creation software.

“The SureColor F2270 is a hybrid print solution built for quality, reliability and versatility. But more than that, the printer was designed with our customers in mind – helping them do it right the first time saves time, money and physical resources,” said Tim Check, senior product manager for Epson. “The market reception to this product has been exciting, and we are eagerly anticipating the results and feedback from our customers once they start using this new printer.”

The SureColor F2270 is available through Epson authorized resellers.

Roland DGA Introduces New Desktop Printer/Cutters

Roland has released its new BN2 series desktop printer/cutters.

Roland DGA, a provider of wide-format inkjet printers, vinyl cutters and other digital imaging technology, has launched its next-generation BN2 series desktop printer/cutters, the latest addition to its popular VersaSTUDIO product family.

The new 20-inch BN2-20 and BN2-20A have been redesigned with new features and capabilities offering users greater productivity, print quality and ease of use than with previous models, according to the company.

Both boast maximum print speeds that are more than four times faster than previous models, while also delivering vibrant, detailed output. The machines use the same high-definition printheads, eco-solvent inks and cutting technology as Roland’s large-format printers. Their versatility and simple operation make them ideal for producing a variety of value-added items, including custom T-shirts, posters, stickers, labels and displays.

“The BN2 Series enables those with little or no printing experience to quickly and consistently deliver professional-quality graphics,” said Daniel Valade, product manager of digital print for Roland. “These next-generation devices are significantly faster and even easier to use than the original BN printer/cutters. Installation and setup are also a breeze, so users can begin creating graphics at a professional level shortly after taking their BN2 out of the box.”

Roland also recently announced that its specially formulated V-BOND ink can now be used with VersaOBJECT CO series and VersaUV LEC2 S-series UV printers. Previously, the ink was only available with Roland’s VersaUV LEF and LEF2 benchtop UV printers. According to Roland, its V-BOND inks are a safer alternative to standard UV inks, adhere well to a variety of substrates and are extremely scratch-resistant.
