The Bright Side: Peter Geiger Donates $50,000 to Local Resource-Sharing Organization
The vice chairman at Top 40 distributor Geiger recently contributed to SHAREcenter, a nonprofit that repurposes important supplies for the local community in Lewiston, ME.
An industry executive’s recent donation will help both community members in need and local sustainability efforts.
Peter Geiger, vice chairman of the board at Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900), has personally donated $50,000 to SHAREcenter, a nonprofit in Geiger’s hometown of Lewiston, ME, that collects and redistributes important supplies for organizations and individuals in need.
SHAREcenter members, including schools, nonprofits and for-profit organizations, are able to “shop” for items they need at little to no cost, such as arts and crafts, office supplies, classroom materials, cleaning products, hygiene items, clothing, school supplies and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) materials. SHAREcenter also collects donated housewares and office, classroom and household furniture for those in need.
“We’re so thankful for this generous donation from Peter Geiger,” said Lisa Rodrigues, executive director of SHAREcenter. “Peter’s gift has helped us expand our reach and impact while continuing to provide valuable resources to our members. We’re committed to reducing waste while supporting Maine’s education and economy. Peter and Geiger’s backing is fundamental to advancing our mission.”
In addition to Geiger’s monetary contribution and time spent volunteering for SHAREcenter, the distributorship donates almost 150 pallets of goods to the organization on an annual basis.
“I’m proud to support SHAREcenter and its important work,” Geiger said. “SHAREcenter is a vital resource for our community, and it plays a critical role in reducing waste and supporting our environment and economy. I’m confident that SHAREcenter will continue its growth, making a positive impact on our community, and would encourage other businesses and business owners to consider supporting this important community nonprofit.”
Based on 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $327 million, Geiger ranked ninth on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry.
