Gemline Increases Warehouse Capacity by More Than 20%
The Counselor Top 40 supplier moved its offsite warehousing from two separate buildings to one, gaining space and efficiency, executives said.
Counselor Top 40 supplier Gemline (asi/56070) has new digs for its offsite warehousing – and executives believe that will benefit the Massachusetts-based firm and its distributor customers.
Gemline announced Wednesday, Aug. 28, that it has moved its offsite facility from two separate buildings into a single bigger space in Lawrence, MA, creating efficiencies and expanding capacity by more than 20%.
“By consolidating our warehousing into one nearby location, we have enhanced our ability to manage inventory and supply chain logistics, which will better serve our customers and support our continued growth,” said Mike Braley, vice president of operations.
Gemline noted that it has transferred its receiving operation to the new location. The company can now receive all incoming products directly into the single facility.
The new location is less than a mile from Gemline’s main facility/headquarters – positioning that, executives said, helps reduce receiving and transit times. That will help contribute to quicker turnarounds of customer orders, according to the company, which said there is a sustainability win too.
“By eliminating the need for multiple offsite transfers, the company has significantly cut down on transportation emissions, a move that aligns with Gemline’s betterway commitment to corporate social responsibility,” the supplier said in a statement.
Gaining efficiencies is a smart move for any supplier these days, especially considering the ongoing global supply chain challenges that the industry faces.
Based on reported 2023 North American promotional product revenue of $134.5 million, Gemline ranked 12th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
