At its core, Top 40 supplier iClick’s company culture is rooted in caring – about every customer and each member of the internal team.
That reality is a fundamental reason the Seattle-based company has accomplished the impressive feat of being both the promo industry’s fastest-growing supplier and Counselor’s highest-placing large supplier (101 employees and up) on this year’s Best Places to Work list. Ranked 20th overall, iClick employees gave the firm top marks on fundamentals that make a superior workplace, including communication, career/personal time balance and overall culture.
“Our culture is a great combination of caring for each other – taking time to develop friendships, having fun and keeping a good work/life balance – along with high expectations to work productively and efficiently as a key part of a team, to think creatively and solve problems when they occur,” says iClick President/CEO Jeff Hall.
As Hall alludes to, fostering collaboration and empowering employees is essential to building a company in which staffers feel valued and invested – vital elements to creating job satisfaction. “It’s easy to say we empower everyone to take care of our customers and take care of each other, but we make this a reality in multiple ways,” says Hall.
For instance, the administrative and production teams are in the same building, forging real relationships and facilitating direct communication. Furthermore, weekly meetings between managers and their teams serve as forums for discussing staffer issues. “We work hard to foster an environment of listening and support,” says Hall.
To advance honesty and transparency, there are company meetings every Friday at which important topics are discussed and both positive and negative customer response letters are read – a means of celebrating successes and learning ways to improve by seeing how iClick’s actions impact distributors. There’s also an open-door atmosphere in which management “encourages every employee to offer suggestions on how we can improve processes and systems,” says Hall.
Into this mix, iClick adds a wealth of employee-pleasing perks, including profit-sharing, public transit passes, Friday happy hours, three-week paid sabbatical after five years of employment, and quarterly departmental and company outings for things like putt-putt golf, escape rooms and ax throwing. “iClick employees also love our dog-friendly office,” says Hall.
