BPMA Appoints New Vice Chair, Board Members
The UK/Ireland industry association says the moves will support long-term strategy.
As business in the UK/Ireland promo industry continues to improve after the pandemic, the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) has appointed new key board members to support continued growth.
Clive Allcott, commercial director of Direct Textiles & Bags Europe, is now vice chair of the BPMA board, while Jules Adam, director of WCM&A, and Richard Sullivan, owner of Navillus Print Gifts, are new members.
Haydn Willetts, regional director for UK & Ireland for midocean and chair of the BPMA board, said of Allcott: “Clive has a great track record with the board. He’s already responsible for our Charter programme, which brings about significant change for Charter members. His appointment represents the next steps in development for BPMA.”
Adam said she’s “delighted” with the opportunity at this “exciting and incredibly important time for our industry.” She also recently attended her first board meeting. “I was impressed with the level of dedication and the amazing plans BPMA is putting together for the future,” she said.
Sullivan echoed her sentiments, adding that he’s “looking forward to giving something back to the industry that has supported me for over 30 years.”
BPMA CEO Carey Trevill said the appointments will be made official at BPMA’s annual general meeting in November, which will be open to all members. “It’s important to bring skills into a board at optimum times,” said Trevill. “With key planning for the next two years, this was the perfect time to bring Jules and Richard on board with their wealth of experience. And with Clive supporting Haydn, we’re all set for progress.”
Sales in the UK/Ireland promo market once again hit above £1 billion in 2022, thanks to eased COVID restrictions, inflation, strong end-buyer demand and a return of events. Last month, the Merchandise World Show, co-hosted by BPMA and Sourcing City, saw a 55% year-over-year increase in distributor attendance.
