Promotions Planner: Good Vibes Only
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on November observances.
The summer heat may still be here, but now is the time to start considering promo campaigns for November. The last few weeks before the busy holidays are chock-full of feel-good observances ideal for leveraging promo products. Consider pursuing local bookstores for Authors Day at the beginning of November, and make sure municipalities are communicating with residents about available waste management services for America Recycles Day in the middle of the month.
Nov. 1/Authors Day
This day is set aside to celebrate both published and aspiring writers, along with book lovers and frequenters of bookshops – the American Booksellers Association reports that it has more than 2,500 members.
PITCH: Bookstores can host local author readings this day and distribute shopping totes to promote patronage of the shop afterward.
Nov. 4/National Candy Day
It’s a universal gesture of goodwill – recipients appreciate receiving candy that comes in a variety of forms, from fruity to chocolatey. National Candy Day commemorates the long history of candy (some of the earliest included nuts, fruits and flowers covered in honey) and the many different forms in which it’s available today.
PITCH: Suggest that teachers reward students with themed candies – think French classes and diversity clubs for individually wrapped items printed with “merci.”
Nov. 15/America Recycles Day
First established in 1994 in Texas, this now-nationwide observance encourages different entities in all 50 states to host education and marketing campaigns centered on the importance of recycling regularly and purchasing recycled and upcycled products.
PITCH: Recommend municipalities put together a direct mail program that lets residents know about area recycling services.
Nov. 17/National Homemade Bread Day
What took off at the beginning of COVID as a fun activity during lockdowns has stayed popular as a way to relax and share creations with friends and family. This observance lobbies for making fresh bread at home in the form of loaves, donuts, pretzels, muffins and biscuits.
PITCH: An acacia board is perfect as an incentive gift for hardworking employees.
Nov. 19/National Entrepreneurs Day
Chambers of commerce and local municipalities can celebrate hardworking business owners with special events this day, like professional development sessions, networking meetups and pop-up markets. Colleges with entrepreneurship programs can also welcome professionals to speak to students.
PITCH: A multifunctional padfolio is ideal as a gift to attendees at special events this day.
