National Salad Month
Help grocery stores, restaurants and nutritionists build their brands during this observance, which celebrates the health benefits of salads. Leafy greens and nutritious add-ons can boost the immune system and provide necessary nutrients.
PITCH: Food service companies will appreciate eco-friendly food containers with recipes inside. Influencers could use shakers and coolers to promote healthy lifestyles.
May 3-7/National Wildflower Week
Celebrated the first full week of May, this observance recognizes the beautiful flowers of spring and encourages people to plant their own. Wildflowers provide habitats for butterflies, help with water conservation and reduce soil erosion.
PITCH: Mailable seed cards are a perfect idea for nurseries and garden centers. Also consider T-shirts and ball caps for staff at gardens and preserves.
May 6/Tourist Appreciation Day
This day acknowledges the contribution tourists make to economies all over the world. In Europe alone, the travel and tourism market makes up about 4% of collective GDP, according to the European Union. Revenue numbers dropped precipitously in 2020, making this upcoming observance a special one. With much travel still on hold, this is an opportunity to get in front of potential tourists waiting for borders to reopen.
PITCH: Encourage tourism and travel clients to offer specials and provide on-brand giveaways to visitors. Or suggest they hold virtual events and drop-ship items to homes.
May 21/Endangered Species Day
Established by the Endangered Species Coalition in 2006, this is an opportunity to educate on the world’s endangered species and how they can be better protected. The Coalition hosts a youth art contest and provides resources for student learning events.
PITCH: Consider sketchbooks and colored pencil sets for clients’ own youth art shows. Students will also welcome eco-friendly T-shirts, plush animals and silicone bracelets that get the word out.
