The month of June is full of holidays and observances, some fun (like International Sushi Day) and others more serious (like PTSD Awareness). Any one of them is an opportunity to help clients promote their businesses.
PTSD Awareness Month
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health concern that may affect people who’ve witnessed combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, assault or other traumatic situations. According to the American Psychiatric Association, PTSD affects 3.5% of American adults each year, and approximately one in every 11 people will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. Led by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, this month-long observance raises awareness to the reality of PTSD and seeks to raise funds for research and treatment.
PITCH: Help therapist offices educate on the nature of PTSD with brochures and T-shirts. For special gifts, consider the Basecamp line of outdoor items from Top 40 supplier Sweda Company (asi/90305). Proceeds from the purchase of each item go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that benefits injured veterans’ transition from active military to civilian life.
June 1/International Dinosaur Day
This observance encourages further study of the many types of dinosaurs that used to roam the earth. According to the American Museum of Natural History, scientists have named about 700 different species so far. Whether classes are in-person or online, teachers can use promotional items to make this day fun for students.
PITCH: Help teachers get students excited with dino-themed temporary tattoos, puzzles, erasers and plush figures. They can distribute them in-person if possible, or as part of a virtual event kit sent to homes.
June 17/National Eat Your Vegetables Day
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only 9% of American adults consume the recommended amount of vegetables each day. Help clients change that with promotions that encourage eating more veggies. They come with a myriad of health benefits, like lowering blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke, maintaining blood sugar levels and more, according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
PITCH: Restaurants, grocery stores, dietician offices and pediatrician practices will appreciate items that encourage more daily veggies. Peelers and cutters are a welcome addition to any kitchen, while produce bags keep food fresh longer.
June 18/International Sushi Day
Sushi is a beloved food all over the world, and this observance celebrates the wide variety available, from nigiri to chirashi and everything in between. Restaurants and cafes with sushi options will appreciate signage and fun giveaways for customers to encourage purchases of sushi and return visits to try their other offerings.
PITCH: Consider chopsticks and serving boards for eateries, along with small items like sushi-shaped stress relievers, flash drives and keychains for guests.
June 21/International Yoga Day
Yoga and boutique fitness studio clients are sure to need items to promote this observance, which recognizes the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. Encourage studios to offer specials and discounts on this day, and help them promote events with signage, apparel and equipment.
PITCH: Put together print signs for studios in the weeks ahead of this day, and suggest that clients award customers with branded raffle items, such as yoga pants, bags, blocks and mats, for registering for classes.
