Promotions Planner: Longing for Summer
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on June observances.
The first month of the summer season comes with a variety of observances that distributors can leverage to boost promo sales. Propose that nearby parks and nature centers hold events to commemorate Great Outdoors Month, and ask healthcare facilities about their plans to recognize staff on Nursing Assistant Day. The items shown here from ASI suppliers are well suited for promo campaigns in June.
Great Outdoors Month
Established in 2019 by the National Governors Association, this month-long observance celebrates the beauty of nature and the country’s many regions and locations – like State and National Parks – for enjoying floral and fauna.
PITCH: Help visitor centers leverage the observance with signage and giveaways to encourage outdoor exploration.
June 16/Cannoli Day
Originally from Sicily, the cannoli – consisting of sweet cream in a shell of fried pastry dough, often sprinkled with chocolate chips – has become a favorite treat across the country at bakeries and restaurants.
PITCH: Suggest that local eateries offer specials this day on cannoli, along with branded boxes for takeaway orders.
June 17/Nursing Assistants Day
Nursing assistants are critical to healthcare – they help patients with the activities of daily living, and are an important part of hospital and residential care facility ecosystems. This day is set aside to acknowledge their work and dedication.
PITCH: Hardworking employees will appreciate personalized apparel given as gifts this week.
June 18-24/Lightning Safety Week
First recognized in 2001, this observance is meant to raise awareness of the dangers of lightning and how to mitigate injury. Every year, the National Weather Service puts out educational pieces each week with lightning strike data and educational tips.
PITCH: Recommend that schools, nature centers and pools offer educational sessions this week and give out lightning-shaped items for attendees.
June 20/Summer Solstice
The longest day of the year in 2024 is prime time for outdoor celebrations. Small businesses can take advantage of the extra sunlight and host local gatherings for cookouts, movie nights and games to welcome the summer season.
PITCH: Propose that nearby businesses host outdoor parties this day and give out T-shirts to guests.
