Let Loose With 1970s Style
Trends from the disco decade are having a moment in fashion and film and on social media, and they’re sure to help upcoming promotions stand out.
Boho and nightlife looks hearkening back to the 1970s are taking the entertainment world by storm, posing an opportunity for distributors to sell related promotional products.
Popular streaming shows like Daisy Jones & the Six – about a female musician on the California music scene in the ’70s – as well as The Offer on Amazon Prime, which tells the story of the making of The Godfather in the late 1960s and early 1970s, have brought both the free-flowing and sparkly disco trends back to the screen.
Meanwhile, songs from a few of the decade’s most popular pop groups, like Earth, Wind and Fire, The Bee Gees and ABBA, have been featured in TikTok videos, and fashions from the decade have been on full display at recent music festivals like Coachella.

“What was so fascinating about the period was that there wasn’t one specific defining style, but rather many aesthetics that influenced people’s attire from the early ’70s throughout,” Georgia Trodd wrote recently in Glamour magazine. “It was a time of freedom and connecting to nature, and this showed through neutral color palates, earthy tones and bohemian looks.”
Here are six ideas for leveraging the look in upcoming campaigns with branded products available from suppliers.
1. College Bookstores
Students heading to summer classes or back to school in the fall will appreciate vintage-style bags for books and devices.
2. Real Estate
Agents can use branded housewares as promo during open houses, and rental companies can provide them to landlords to promote the firm to tenants.
3. Corporate Gifting
Fitted leather jackets were all the rage in the 1970s. A high-end style with sleek imprinting is perfect as part of a company program or work-anniversary gift.
4. Festival Afterparties
Sponsors of gatherings after music festivals can hire brand ambassadors to distribute ’70s-inspired giveaways to attendees.
5. Resort & Cruise Shops
Vacationers love to commemorate their experience with branded merchandise – think a ’70s-style bag with the destination and the resort name.
6. Company Parties
Themed get-togethers are ideal for giveaways featuring disco balls, that staple of 1970s nightlife. And reusable drinkware is a fun – and sustainable – way to remember the event.
